It’s Friday!! I’m currently drinking the new nitro cold brew from starbucks and I have to admit, I’m not very impressed. I do like that starbucks’ cold brew in general seems to be very low acidity and therefore it’s suuuper easy on my stomach/digestive system, and the foam is fun, but other than that I don’t really see any reason to be excited here. I actually ended up stopping back at my house to add some coconut creamer to it, and now it’s much better.
On another note, I tried cupping a few days ago for my first time. I went in for a bodywork session because my entire body was hurting from heavy lifting, climbing, and running all the time, and my bodyworker thought that cupping might be beneficial for breaking up some of the tension in my body, particularly in my lats and shoulders. The leftover spots tend to be darkest where your tension was the worst, and the spots on my lats and near my armpits have turned this reaalll attractive shade of purple/red. It looks like weird giant hickeys around my arms. Not cute. And I totally forgot about them today and wore a tank top to work so now I’m sure my co-workers are trying to figure out the best way to prevent themselves from contracting whatever skin condition I’ve got going on.
I’m planning to do a post on my experience with bodywork and cupping in the near future, so keep an eye out for that. I’d also really like to try acupuncture, but can’t seem to find a reputable acupuncturist in the Minneapolis area, so if you’re from the Twin Cities, give me some recommendations!
Anyway, this drink came about one super hot day after I apparently lost my mind and decided to go for a run in the middle of the afternoon. I got home, super tomato red and literally dripping sweat onto the floor, and for some reason all I wanted in the moment was the new Violet Drink I had seen starbucks came out with. I had never, and still have never had a violet drink, so I have no idea why I wanted this thing, but it was all I could think about. Knowing full well that a sugar-laden, chemical-laden, $5 drink was not the best way to refuel my body, I decided to make my own purple drink. While I’m sure it probably tastes nothing like the starbucks drink, this thing is damn delicious, naturally sweetened, and you probably already have all of the ingredients in your home. It’s seriously perfect for hot days – cold, refreshing, sweet, and the coconut water helps replenish what you’ve lost in the heat. Enjoy!
